A 27-year-old fisherman is in the grips of the Anloga Police for allegedly stabbing a 71-year-old man to death at Atito, a fishing community located in the Anloga District.
The suspect, one Yao Senya, according to the police, was reported at the Alakple Police station on Wednesday, September, 15 2021, for inflicting multiple knife wounds on one Dumega Heletsi Akpakudzo, aged 71, following a disagreement resulting in his death.
A release from the Volta Regional Police Public Relations Unit revealed that two children of both the deceased and suspect were engaged in a fight. The preliminary investigations also went on to reveal that the deceased was alleged to have beaten up Yao’s son.
Yao who got angered by the beatings received by his son took out a knife and inflicted multiple wounds on the chest, neck and shoulder of the deceased in retaliation. He was quickly rushed to the Keta Municipal Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
