Hip hop in Ghana is becoming competitive and look to
have a long reign over afrobeat and other genres. The likes of Sarkodie, Obour,
Reggie Rockstone, Okyame Kwame, Kwaw Kesse and other who originated and build
this genre for some years back can now fully sit back as the industry seem to
have new school rappers taking the Ghana hip hop to another level.
2021 saw many rappers making it big in and
outside the country and one of these heavyweight rappers who seem not to be off
the limelight soon is the lyrical and versatile Chymny Crane. His choice
of words and contents makes one to ask where he gets his lyrics and inspiration
from.
Chymny Crane came to the limelight after delivering hard
punches on Obidi’s advice instrumental which was meant to be a diss song
to Shatta Wale in 2020. Whiles some industry players saw it as pride and
attacked the young rapper for disrespecting Sarkodie, others saw it as bold
step and congratulated him for voicing out that truth according to the lyrical
content in the song and since then he has been in the scene with back to back
singles to keep his musical journey alive.
He has many songs out on all digital
platforms which has won him nominations and awards. He recently won the hip hip artiste of the year at the just ended Ga Music Awards (Gome Awards) and his latest KILL DEM has increased his streaming tally since its release.
Is he one of the few to hold down the hip hop
culture or he is just in to have a short moment, lets wait until the release of
his debut album set to be out this year titled BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS.
The reason for this album name is yet to be known but the HUSTLE GANG president
seems to be the hip hop version to Ghanaian dancehall king Shatta Wale.
Some of his songs that became the favorite of
the streets are MY BABY, KOKOO, MANTSE and VOICE NOTE TO SHATTA WALE. He has
also featured the likes of Yaa Pono, Joey B, Opanka, Gariba
and Gemini Orleans. He promised to make his debut album one of the best
hip hop albums Tho he has not given the
track list and maybe features if the is any, his fans and hip hop lovers wait
patiently for the album.
