New Delhi: Police claimed on Thursday that a 40-year-old lady, her "boyfriend," and another male were arrested in central Delhi's Daryaganj neighbourhood for allegedly killing her husband.
The accused have been identified as Zeeba Qureshi, a Daryaganj resident, Shoaib, 29, a Meerut resident, and Vinit Goswami, 29, a Ghaziabad resident, they added.
According to authorities, Zeeba intended to divorce her spouse, Moinuddin Qureshi.
Qureshi, 47, was shot and killed in Daryaganj around 10 p.m. on May 17 while urinating outside gate number 3 of Khalsa School, according to police.
During the inquiry, authorities speculated that the shooters may have belonged to UP based on the white motorcycle used in the crime.
According to a senior police officer, the motorcycle was discovered abandoned near Tara Hotel in Daryaganj and was later verified to have been stolen from Meerut.
Police detained the three accused, including the victim's wife, after gathering more evidence, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shweta Chauhan.
Zeeba is the mother of two sons and a girl. Her husband worked in the real estate industry.
According to the DCP, she was unhappy with her husband and wanted to divorce him and marry someone else.
She met Shoaib on Facebook two years ago and began dating him, according to the officer.
According to Chauhan, Zeeba persuaded Shoaib to kill her husband and marry her during their romance.
According to authorities, they planned the murder for five months, during which time Shoaib engaged Goswami, who agreed to kill Moinuddin for Rs. 6 lakh.
Goswami and Shoaib conducted their investigation at the request of Zeeba, who provided crucial information via WhatsApp's 'about feature,' according to them.
Goswami attempted to assassinate Moinuddin several times based on information provided by Shoaib through Zeeba, but was unsuccessful.
Shoaib and Goswami went to Meerut and arranged for a stolen bike because Zeeba was pressuring Shoaib to kill her husband and marry her as soon as possible, according to authorities.
