Ironheart: Regan Aliyah Joins the Cast of Marvel's Disney+ Series in an Unspecified Role: Report

 

Regan Aliyah has apparently been cast in an unspecified role in Ironheart. According to Deadline, the XO, Kitty star will appear in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe program alongside protagonist Dominique Thorne. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes (Atlanta) will direct three episodes apiece for the six-episode series. Ironheart's creator and chief writer is Chinaka Hodge, best known for her work on Netflix's Snowpiercer. The Disney+ series will be released in autumn 2023 as part of Marvel's Phase 5 roster.

Ironheart debuted in 2016's Invincible Iron Man comics, following Riri Williams, a 15-year-old engineering student. Following her father's death, the verified super-genius constructs a suit of armour similar to Tony Stark's and continues to develop it. That is, until Stark agrees to support her decision to become a superhero.

Williams will be played by the aforementioned Thorne, who was previously seen in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, which debuted at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. With Iron Man absent from the MCU, it appears Riri's story has been intertwined into the universe of Wakanda.

The Black Panther 2 teaser shows her creating the Ironheart suit's chest plate. Early last month, set images revealed the Ironheart armor, which appeared extremely sophisticated with numerous enhancements but lacked the typical red-and-gold color scheme.

Marvel published some new Black Panther 2 gear earlier this week, including a first look at the final form of Ironheart's armour. The action figurines were discovered at Target in the United States, and they depict the distinctive red costume with golden seams, but with a black visor covering the face.

It's tough to say whether or not this MCU show serves as a precursor to Black Panther 2.

Like Aliyah, the majority of the cast members' identities are unknown. Apart from Thorne, the only other notable actor is Lyric Ross (This Is Us), who plays William's best friend Natalie Washington. The villain is supposed to be Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), and there are unspecified roles for Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Manny Montana, Harper Anthony, Zoe Terakes, and Shea Coulée.

Aliyah is currently poised to star in Netflix's XO, Kitty, a To All the Boys spin-off.

Ironheart will be available on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar in the autumn of 2023.
