In an attempt to criticize the recently launched series on Amazon Prime Video, Elon Musk went on a wild rant against The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Monday. The Tesla CEO and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos have been at odds for a long time. The two are set to square off against Twitter next month over the Tesla CEO's attempt to acquire the microblogging service. The characters in the show were the focus of Musk's criticisms, which are misogynistic while adhering to conventional gender roles.

Musk dramatically tweeted on Monday in his tirade against The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which debuted on September 2 only on Prime Video, that "Tolkien is turning in his grave." It's important to note that his remarks were made after Amazon declared that the series had the most-watched premiere on the service with 25 million global viewers in the first day.

"The majority of the men we've met so far are either cowards, jerks, or both. Only Galadriel is courageous, wise, and kind "In a second, misogynistic tweet, Musk continued. Welsh actor Morfydd Clark portrays the warlike elf Galadriel.

It is also important to remember that Musk and Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, whose Blue Origin spaceflight services company competes with SpaceX, have a protracted feud. Musk frequently tries to trot out or rant against Bezos and his companies.

Author Neil Gaiman reacted negatively to Musk's Twitter rant, writing: "Elon Musk doesn't come to me for advice on how to fail to buy Twitter, and I don't go to him for film, TV, or literature criticism."

The Lord of the Rings prequel series, which takes place tens of thousands of years before Peter Jackson's films, aims to make up for the absence of strong female characters in that world.

For its five-season commitment, Amazon has already invested more than $1 billion (roughly Rs. 8,000 crore).

Up until the series finale on October 14, new episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power air every Friday at 9:30am IST on Amazon Prime Video in India.
